AIRmarket Attends the RPAS Traffic Management Action Committee Meeting #7
As a member of the RPAS Traffic Management Action Committee (RTMAC), AIRmarket remains deeply engaged in shaping Canada’s RPAS Traffic Management (RTM) landscape. We recently attended RTMAC #7 on November 5, 2024, hosted at NAV CANADA’s Ottawa offices.
The industry discussed the key points:
NAV Canada confirmed the rFIMS selection process is currently active.
Transport Canada provided an update on the systems engineering sub-working group.
Key activities include participation in the upcoming GUTMA conference and a visit to the FAA Keysight in Dallas.
Remote Identification is currently under regulatory development, with a notice of proposed amendments expected in early 2025.
NAV Canada provided an update EUROCAE standards for network identification and service supplier data exchange.
Transport Canada provided updates about JARUS and ICAO work that they continue to progress.
The Aerovison trials provided an update and are still working with local authorities to secure support and expect to fly by the end of 2025.
The need for electronic conspicuity for the RPAS industry was discussed, and we explored how we may drive this forward as a Transport Canada initiative.
Discussed the request for Transport Canada to assist the industry in engaging the Government of Canada for funding to support the RTM industry.
As always, these discussions drive alignment across industry and regulatory stakeholders, helping to pave the way for the safe and scalable deployment of commercial BVLOS operations in Canada. We look forward to the ongoing progress and collaboration with RTMAC members.
