Since our last official communication at the iART Alliance Kickoff Meeting in April, AIRmarket and the iART Alliance have been diligently working on various initiatives.
In this edition of the AIRmarket News, we aim to update our Alliance members on all the activities and progress made in the past few months.
Amidst escalating environmental challenges, the Alberta RTM Trials (iART) initiative is at the forefront, reshaping drone technology for disaster management. Our mission? To enable RTM airspace, making BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line Of Sight) operations routine and commercially accessible while enabling an effective response to climate change.

Successfully navigated the iART Alliance RTM-BL (Uncontrolled - Low Risk) Airspace Category for the first time (Smyth).
The AIRmarket team executed its first ever night flight operations.
The iART webpage was developed to facilitate knowledge transfer and keep iART Alliance members up to date on our activities/milestones.
McElhanney and AIRmarket's Chief Pilot form the Focals for the Flight Operations Sub-Working Group. This powerhouse team came together to kickoff the first Flight Ops Sub-Working Group meeting and started planning iART Alliance flight activities.
The Performance Objective SWG (PS-SWG) formed the Focals for this Sub-Working Group. The Academic Alliance will consist of three of Canada's leading academic institutions including University of Alberta, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, and Carleton University.
Successfully navigated the iART Alliance RTM-N (Non-Cooperative) Airspace Category for the first time (Gretzky).
The Alberta RTM Trials (iART) and associated Alliance have been selected as partners by Transport Canada.
The iART Steering Committee came together for its first meeting. Senior leaders from YEG, uAvionix, Suncor, and Alberta Wildfire provides executive insight and direction to ensure strategic goals and milestones are achieved for the Phase 2 Trials.
With Clean Resource Innovation Network (CRIN) funding, AIRmarket has established an Operations Control Centre (OCC) with mission management and pilot rooms. We have also added a new drone to our fleet… AIRTL09.
AIRmarket has extended our network of RTM infrastructure with new tower(s) and mobile capabilities.
AIRmarket is building real-world examples of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. AI is being used to identify aircraft and extract civil registry information from video camera feeds in near real-time.
AIRmarket traveled to Ottawa to present the Alberta RTM Trials (iART) to Transport Canada and NAV Canada as part of our proposal for the Phase 2 RTM Trials.
